About us

Where navacodex began

navacodex opened its doors in Bangkok in 2021, founded by a group of educators and engineers who had spent years watching intelligent, curious adults walk away from AI learning because the available options didn't fit their lives. Courses were either designed for recent graduates with daytime availability, or they were self-paced to the point where most people drifted away within a few weeks.

We wanted to try something different: small cohorts with real structure, content that respected how busy people actually learn, and instructors who prioritised clarity over performance. The name Nava comes from Sanskrit, meaning new — which felt right for a school trying to offer a genuinely fresh approach to a subject that was itself changing rapidly.

Over the three years since we started, we have worked with learners from a wide range of fields — finance, healthcare, design, logistics, education — and we have kept refining our programmes based on what those learners told us helped and what didn't. That conversation is still going on, and it still shapes what we offer.

Our mission

What we are trying to do

Our mission is simple to state, if harder to carry out: help working adults in Thailand develop a genuine, practical understanding of AI — one that is accurate enough to be useful and honest enough to acknowledge the limits of what this technology can and cannot do.

We are not trying to make every learner an AI researcher. Some people come to us because they want to read about AI in the news without feeling lost. Others want to change career direction. A smaller group wants to build working projects and develop a portfolio they can show to employers. All three of those goals are legitimate, and we have built a programme for each of them.

Our values are consistency and honesty. We say what our programmes cover and what they do not. We set expectations about time commitment that reflect reality rather than what might make us sound convenient. And we try, in every session and every piece of written material, to describe AI as it actually is.

The people

The team behind the programmes

Our instructors and staff come from backgrounds in computer science, education design, and applied data work. What they share is a preference for clear explanation over confident-sounding jargon.

Pranee Suthiphan

Lead Instructor & Co-founder

Pranee has spent twelve years teaching applied mathematics and data methods at university level, and joined navacodex to build the kind of AI curriculum she wished had existed when she was learning. She leads the Career Transition Track and the Portfolio Programme.

Kasem Wattana

Curriculum Designer & Co-founder

Kasem worked for eight years as a software engineer before moving into learning design. He designed the structure of all three navacodex programmes and is responsible for the written materials and recorded sessions in the Beginner's Course.

Nadia Rungpet

Learner Support Lead

Nadia manages all learner communications, enrolment, and the day-to-day running of cohorts. She was a navacodex student herself in 2022 before joining the team, which means she understands what it feels like to study alongside a demanding job.

Our standards

How we approach quality

These are not aspirational statements. They describe how we actually work and what we hold ourselves to when reviewing and updating our programmes.

Accurate content, reviewed regularly

AI as a field changes quickly. We review all course materials at least once per cohort cycle and update anything that no longer reflects how the tools and concepts actually work.

Learner data handled carefully

We collect only the information needed to run our programmes. Learner contact details and progress data are stored securely and are not shared with third parties or used for marketing without consent.

Real feedback, acted on

Each cohort completes a structured feedback survey at the midpoint and end of their programme. We read every response and include specific changes in the next run where learners have identified something that could be clearer or more useful.

Instructors who explain, not perform

We select and train instructors on the basis of their ability to explain things clearly to people who are new to them, not on the basis of credentials alone. Sessions are reviewed and discussed internally after each cohort.

Clear terms, no surprises

Our programme fees, schedules, and what is and isn't included are all stated clearly before enrolment. We do not add charges that were not described, and we do not change cohort schedules after learners have committed.

Accessible learning materials

Recorded sessions include written summaries and all readings are available as downloadable PDFs. We design our materials so that learners can engage with them in the format that works best for them.

Applied AI education for working professionals in Bangkok and Thailand

navacodex works with learners across Bangkok and, through our fully online format, with working adults throughout Thailand and the wider Southeast Asian region. Our programmes address a genuine gap in the current educational offering: structured, part-time AI study that is specifically designed for people who are already in employment and cannot commit to full-time learning.

The field of AI development spans a wide range of disciplines — probability and statistics, software engineering, data management, and the practical art of framing a problem well enough to know what kind of model, if any, might help with it. Our programmes address all of these areas in sequence, moving from foundational conceptual understanding through to applied project work at the senior level.

We are a small school and we plan to stay that way. Cohort sizes are deliberate — we are not trying to maximise enrolment, we are trying to provide a learning experience that is actually worth the time and money our learners invest in it.
